Literature Text

Youth
I consider myself
To not have really
Had a childhood

For my youth
Was highly...
Abnormal
And such

I graduated
High school at
The tender age
Of twelve

I got my first
Doctorate at seventeen
My third at
Twenty one

When I entered
The Academy
They thought
I was too young

And I was young
But I was old enough
To hold my own
Through hard work

Hard work and dedication
Was what it took
To get my first assignment,
The BAU

I was envied
But I still had
Something--
My youth

Even with everything
I saw and experienced
Before I was thirty
I had some youth left

But the BAU
Took it
And replaced it
With something else

That something else
Was something I'd
Secretly longed for
A sense of belonging

In my youth
I could never fit in
With my classmates,
Years older than I

In college
I was still
Too young
To belong

In the academy
I had colleagues
I had mentors
But no cohorts

But when I got
To the BAU
I still didn't belong,
Not at first

But now I am loved
Something the kid
In me longed for
And still does
So since my senior year in high school, I've discovered a penchant for poetry. I really do love it. Well, writing it, that is. I had my fill of reading it, also in high school. But I'll always read my friends' work. Aaaaaanyway. This chapter's theme is youth! (And I was THIS close to writing Youtube there.)

This is variation four.
